Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Anti Colic Bottles

From day one we used Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Bottles (£12). I am unsure why we chose them, actually thinking back I think it was because Asda had one of their baby events on and they were going cheap!
We bought the normal opaque coloured bottles, and I loved them!

That was until about 6 weeks into his little life when he was being sick after every bottle and not keeping any milk down, after many changes of clothes for everyone I spoke to my Health Visitor and She advised me to make an appointment with our Doctor, my little baby boy was diagnosed with Acid Reflux. He was given Baby Gaviscon Sachets to be given with every bottle of milk he had.
The Gaviscon made the milk thicker to help him keep it down easier, one problem we faced was that the number 1 teets were too small for the milk to flow through and Baby E was getting bored. We changed the teets to the number 2 size and these seemed to work.. for a little while.

That was until he developed Colic. We bought everything under the sun to remove the trapped wind as he was in so much pain and was constantly crying. Looking back it was hard for all of us, but as new parents we didn't quite know what more to do and thought it would pass. It never. And after a couple of sleepless nights and searching many of forums I found a solution. Anti Colic bottles! The only thing we hadn't tried - or thought of!

We went out the next day about bought 4 Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Anti Colic Bottles (£23.99). They were exactly the same size as the normal bottles we had so Baby E didn''t know any difference, the only thing that was different was a purple straw like thing in the middle of the bottle which is a vent so that our baby can continuously suck without pausing to take in air, the vent sits on top of the bottle so the bit the teet fits onto is slightly bigger to accommodate it.

Once sterilised, we started used them with every feed and from the next day we saw a huge difference - no more crying in pain baby! It was bliss! I felt like we were getting back to normal.

Fast forward to 6 months and we are still using them! Since using them we have never had any problems with Colic!  Even though I don't think we need to be use them anymore, I'm scared if we do stop we will be right back to when he was 8 weeks old and screaming in pain.

I would highly recommend Tommee Tippee Anti Colic bottles to anyone that says their baby is suffering from Colic!

  1. Ahh those colicky days are tough. My first daughter suffered terribly. We tried all sorts of things as well. I'm not sure what really helped in the end because we were trying so many different things at once. (She was tongue tied, so was bringing in a lot of air when she sucked) Anti colic bottles definitely helped as did Infacol - I don't know if you can get that in the UK though and I think you can only use it after one month of age. I'm glad all is well with you both now and you've found something that works for you :)

  2. Absolutely agree! Baby L had reflux, one of the worst the docs have seen and these bottles were an absolute god send!! From the first time we used them we noticed a difference. At 14 months the reflux has all but gone and we can now use the pretty pink tomee tippee bottles I bought before she was born. I still use the teats from the anti colic ones though as I cannot stand the ones with the vent!! x

  3. I'm a new mama-to-be, so I'll just have to go with what everyone else has told me and say that you need a really good baby carrier.
