One thing I struggled with while being pregnant was the horrible, horrible heartburn I had! I never had any other symptoms, no morning sickness, no swollen ankles or anything. But from day one I was plagued with heartburn!
Heartburn or acid indigestion is a burning sensation in the chest which is usually behind the breast bone. The pain often rises in the chest and may radiate to the neck or throat.
For me the pain was unreal and affected me day and night. Heartburn didn't care that I was sleeping at 2am and it usually saw me walking sleepily to the fridge to get some milk (that helped me in the early days)
When people asked if I had any pregnancy symptoms I told them about my heartburn nightmare and the response was always 'Oh, your baby is going to have lots of hair' - after hearing this 572652389 I pretty much nodded in agreement and faced the fact that my newborn would most certainly be covered in so much hair it resembled a small monkey!
That was until one midwife appointment, where she suggested Gaviscon liquid. Gaviscon is a soothing relief from heartburn, indigestion and reflux cough.
Gaviscon worked instantly and I was never seen without a bottle. I had bottles everywhere - in my handbag, in the car and even one at work! As soon as I felt the dreaded acid coming up to my throat I took a glug and away it went - magic in a bottle I'd say!
I highly recommend Gaviscon to anyone with heartburn. And if you were wondering how to get rid of heartburn, there are products that can help, you don't have to just 'put up with it'.
Oh and Elliott was born with about 5 strands of hair... so much for that myth!
