NEMO AND GIRAFFE - A REVIEW!

As I'm sure you are all aware - we love books so much so that I co host a linky on a Saturday called Weekend Book Club.  We are always on the look out for new books we haven't read before so when Lee Hunter got in contact with us with the chance to review her new children's book, we jumped at the chance!

First of all, one thing I do like to do in the world of blogging is support the 'local' community, now there is not many bloggers around my area and most of the things I buy or receive are either big companies or from England, so when I found out Lee is from a little town in Scotland, a couple of hours from us, this made it that little bit more special.

Elliott has been brought up with books from day one, we use to read to him every night - and still do! But book reading doesn't just happen at night time, in fact we scatter books in the living room for him to open and enjoy.

As Elliott is still very young and cannot read, he can look at the bright colour pictures.  I want him to love books as much as I did when i was a kid! My nose was forever in a book!

Nemo and Giraffe (£4.99) is a lovely book and is inspired by her very own cat called Nemo and his best friend who is a toy giraffe. They have been brought up together and gone on lots of adventures - inside the house, as Nemo is a house cat, with a fear of loud noises and other animals. So they build a great friendship.  The book aims to make little ones aware that all animals need a bit of space and time to adapt to new surroundings, another aim which is clear to see throughout the book is the true value of friendship and equality. No two people are the same, you could be big and your best friend could be small, you could be a cat and your best friend a giraffe!

The illustrations are by Lindy Damen and are spot on, one thing I do like about books I read/buy for Elliott is that pictures are key, and these pictures are amazing! There is just the right amount of text accompanied with an illustration. The pictures are bright, the colours are fantastic and overall they are just beautiful...

There is not a day that goes by that Elliott is flicking through Nemo and Giraffe shouting Cat or Kitt (our cats name - original eh!) He is also into pointing, so his little finger goes straight to the cat on the page. It's very cute to watch!

If you want to see for yourself what a great book Nemo and Giraffe is, you can purchase one through Amazon for £4.99! Keep up to date with all the latest news over on Twitter (@nemoandgiraffe) and Facebook!
