Bathroom Essentials!

Something we noticed is that our bathroom has been taken over by a small person! I thought I had lots of lotions and potions, until I looked at Baby E's stock pile!

I thought this would be a great opportunity to share with you our Bathroom Essentials!

A Changing Mat!
We use is the Baby Dam Changing Mat (£24.99)(*). We had a changing mat, just a normal everyday one, nothing fancy. When the Baby Dam mat arrived, I got slightly excited - not only is the pattern beautiful, it is super thick and the foam feels super soft so your baby just moulds into it! Another plus was the thicker sides of the mat. As you know, Baby E is very active and trying to unchange him is becoming more and more difficult with him rolling off/crawling off the mat and making his great escape, well with the Baby Dam Changing Mat this makes escaping harder as the sides of the mat are much more higher than any mats i have ever seen. I mean he can get off it, this just makes it more difficult and by the time he has mastered it, he has been stripped! We have been using this everyday and love it. I have never even looked at our old mat since!

Lotions and Potions!
I was loving the Burts Bee's Baby Bees Bath Wash (£9.99), but it ran out and I am determined not to buy more and use up Baby E's stash!
We have been using Vital Touch Natalia Baby Top to Toe Wash (£8.25)(*) and I must admit it is now a competitor with the Baby Bees!
The bottle looks beautiful sitting on the side, I'm a big lover of glass bottles so that was something that drew me to it. Okay, lets actually talk about it's contents! haha! The Top to Toe Wash smells amazing, I'm not a big fan of lavender scents but this is so soothing and doesn't have that perfumy smell. The first time I used this I noticed how soft Baby E's skin was. And he smelt like a proper baby... I know that sounds strange, but you know the smell yeah?! One thing I noticed is that a lot goes a long way! It says use about 3-5 cap fulls into running water, we use 4 and I think that is a generous amount, but then again Baby E does love his bubbles! We have been using this for a couple of weeks now and I can truly say that i am sold!

Another one of Vital Touch Natalia we have been loving is the Baby Special Skin Balm (£5.50)(*). Baby E has had a bit of cradle cap lately, I think that might be due to the weather changing. We have been using this for a couple of days now and have seen a big difference. I wash his hair as normal and pop a small amount of my fingers to warm it up and then gently massage it onto the affected area. On the first use I noticed the difference, with the patch being reduced in size. 3 days later the area has gone. I think I will use this a couple more days just to make sure I have got it all - with his hair it's sometimes hard to see! Like I said we have been using this for a couple of days and I haven't even made a dent into the little tub! This will definitely go a long way and I know I will be recommending to everyone that says their child has cradle cap!

A Thermometer!
Something everyone needs in the bathroom is a bath thermometer. We have this cute little teddy bear from Vital Touch.

Bath Toys!
We have many, many bath toys in our bathroom! We all love them - even Daddy! Baby E's favourites are the Munchkin Squirting Barn Yard Bath Toys (*) and the Flashing Octopus'
The Squirting bath toys are great fun, as the name states they squirt water - which is either hilarious for Baby E or upsetting! We can never find a happy medium!Saying that Baby E loves to have a good ol' munch on them, they make for great teething toys - when he can catch them bobbing about in the water!
The Flashing Octopus' are great, they flash different colours - red, blue and yellow. We sometimes turn the light off in the bathroom and the lights are so bright that it makes for a great sensory experience!

Foamy animals are fun too, Baby E has just learnt to stick them to the bath, so they are either in his mouth on sticking to the bath - sometimes both! haha! I think we will need to invest on some more as we only have 3.

A Sponge!
The Konjac Baby Sponge (£9.99)(*) is the only sponge we use now. It is extra gentle on Baby E's skin and it holds 10 times its weight in water so makes hair washing easy and natural. I have never felt a sponge like it, you can most certainly feel the softness. The sponge is also small enough to fit into your hand  which makes washing Baby E easier! I'm sure if you have a small child you'll know they usually go for the sponge at any given opportunity! Baby E loves it, so much so that I can usually find it in his mouth! I loved this sponge so much that I have bought a similar one for myself!

A Toothbrush!
We have been tooth brushing for just 2 weeks now and getting the hang of it. This toothbrush sits with Mummy and Daddy's! We got this one from the Health Visitor and works fine for us. Baby E can hold it easily enough!

A Towel!
We have a towel rack in our bathroom, usually with one of Mummy's towel, one of Daddy's towel and one of Baby E's towel. We use the ones with the hood as I think they are cute and I wrap him up like Burrito!

Talcum Powder!
Okay, not all of you will have this in your bathroom, but we do. It makes after-bath-nappy-change so much easier! We use the Burts Bee's Baby Bees Talc Free Dusting Powder (£6.99). I love the smell of this. Smells beautiful, sweet like honey! With other powders I feel some dry out his skin quickly, with the Burts Bee's this isn't an issue. He will sometimes wee in his nappy and the powder will still be visible on his bum!

A Bathrobe!
Again, on our towel rack I usually put his bathrobe to keep it cosy for him when he gets out of the bath. I love our Natures Purest Bathrobe (£30)(*), it is so soft and delicate on his naked skin. We both love this and he also looks super cute in it!

What are your Bathroom Essentials? Are they similar to ours?

  1. Love bath time but gosh can babies take over. M has more toys that she needs and thta's just in the bathroom! We never use a thermometer just a trusty check with a hand. Something we haven't bought much is lotions and potions. We just use bog standard baby shampoo but maybe I need to expand my horizons more?

We tend to stick to Baby Bees but have recently branched out to new things! We have used the bog standard ones but i feel they dried his skin out!
